District

For nearly two centuries, Steubenville City Schools have served as a cornerstone of the Ohio Valley, shaping generations of students and strengthening the community through a steadfast commitment to educational excellence. The district’s story began with the city’s 1839 school charter, establishing a lasting investment in public education and the future of its citizens.

As the community has grown and evolved, so too have its schools. From cherished neighborhood schools to today’s innovative learning environments, Steubenville City Schools have continually adapted to meet the needs of every generation while preserving a proud tradition of achievement, service, and community pride.

In 2026, Steubenville High School (SHS) celebrated its 167th Commencement Ceremony, marking another milestone in a proud legacy of preparing students for success. Through the dedication of educators, the support of families, and the commitment of the community, SHS continues to educate, empower, and inspire—carrying forward the pride, tradition, and spirit of Big Red for generations to come.
